Where did my idea for Grave Little Secrets come from? I honestly don’t know, but if I really think about it, I would probably have to say that it came from my love of the T.V. show, Pretty Little Liars.
I knew from the beginning that I wanted my character to have a secret, one that could potentially ruin her life, I just wasn’t sure what I wanted that secret to be. I started writing, and as the words flowed out and onto paper it just kind of hit me. She kills someone, but then I had to figure out how and why. As I sitting there, pen and paper in hand, thinking, a commercial comes on about texting and driving. It was almost like a sign.
I knew exactly what I was going to have her do. What her secret was going to be, it was just working it into the plot and putting it into words that was going to be the hardest part.
While writing I envisioned it playing out in my head, almost like a movie. What would I expect to happen next? What would need to take place to make me sit in a theatre for over an hour to watch this movie? Once it was completed, I was shocked at how alive the characters felt to me. I am so excited that I get to share this book with everyone, and I hope that you love reading it as much as I loved writing it.
